Michelle and Frank met through a mutual friend in May of 2005. They instantly clicked – there was easiness to their interactions. After daily communication for almost a year, Frank revealed that his feelings were stronger than just being a friend. Michelle eventually agreed that she felt the same way – but now what? This was the start of a whole new stage of our already strong relationship, but the distance seemed like such a huge obstacle and neither of us had figured out how it could work.
From the beginning, there were doubts from others thinking that it was impossible to last while being states apart. Our love was strong though. We saved up and planned to make sure we could see each other as much as possible. Every time Frank had to leave from Michelle’s home, or Michelle would have to leave him, she could not stop the waterworks. It was too hard to leave him and not know when she’d be able to see him again.
We struggled through the distance and had our ups and downs. It was definitely a roller-coaster ride. At the end of the day we knew it would be worth it… We started this website, Loving From A Distance, in the summer of 2008 simply because we wanted to create a list of Things Frank and Michelle Do while long distance. Back then, we had no idea what it would become… we have met so many people from around the world who share a similar experience.
Michelle and Frank decided we would settle in Maine. Frank applied to many jobs, and he finally was able to get a job related to his field in the summer of 2011. After over 5 years of being long distance, we happily closed the distance on July 21, 2011.
Michelle and Frank were featured in the February 2011 issue of LUX Woman Magazine (Portugal) and the October 2010 issue of Seventeen Magazine (Singapore) for creating LovingFromADistance.com
